About the role
Due to continued growth and investment into their technical environment, an exciting opportunity has been created for a Senior System Administrator to join our public sector client to help deliver and maintain their range of business systems. This role offers flexible and hybrid working and access to government pension.
The purpose of the role is to act in a 3rd/4th line capacity supporting, maintaining and securing their commercial and industrial business systems and act as the highest point of escalation.
This is a project based role where the post holder will get involved with and run various technical projects including re-designing of platforms, migrations and implementations.
Develop a detailed understanding of systems and platforms to take an active role in design and evolution of business systems including appropriate documentation, cyber-security measures, processes and procedures.
Act as DBA for general management, maintenance and support of SQL databases.
Participate in change control and risk management processes, problem and incident resolution.
Installation, upgrade, replacement of equipment, business systems and other relevant technology either independently or as part of a team.
Monitor and align business systems to evolving requirements by identifying and implementing improvements that support business processes.
Have an active role in impact projects, BAU, architecture considerations and product roadmaps to ensure strategic direction.
What you’ll bring:
Experience working in an ITIL and Microsoft infrastructure – ideally holding Microsoft certifications. – Desirable.
Demonstrable experience in the support, maintenance and security of large-scale business critical and safety related systems.
Knowledge of security best practices of virtual server and cloud platforms / environments.
Proven experience working in a 3rd/4th line capacity in system administrative roles.
Knowledge of application security requirements.
