System Administrator

About the role

We are currently supporting the recruitment of a System Administrator for a fairtrade financial cooperative based in Newcastle. They are looking to for likeminded individuals who share their same values and vision of improving livelihoods and living standards for people in poverty.

As part of this small IT team, you play a key role in making sure that all services stay up to date and available by:

  • Developing and maintaining the IT Infrastructure in order to support the business requirements.
  • Monitoring and operating the regular systems infrastructure tasks such as the backup and server update processes.
  • Providing technical support to all users of the IT Systems.
  • Essential skills:

  • Problem-solver with an analytical mindset.
  • Support and troubleshoot Hyper-V Windows server environment.
  • Administer MSSQL server, Exchange and other Windows Server Software.
  • Some knowledge of network administration and troubleshooting.
  • Create scripts to automate tasks where possible.
  • Desirable skills:

  • Understanding of Windows desktop and server environments including Office 365.
  • Understanding of tools such as PowerShell, Bash or other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of supporting Linux servers.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting database performance issues.
